Consider yourself warned!

Yesterday,  Stacey and I went to see Mamma Mia.  Here's my personal and not in the least bit qualified opinion of it...
First, it is a really fun but really girlie movie.  I knew it was a musical and therefore to expect some cheesiness but it far exceeded my expectations in that area!   It had barely gotten started when I told Stacey that Cory would've been absolutely running for the door about now.   It almost seems cruel to take a guy to see this with you but if you're looking for a way to get back at them for something...;)
Second, Pierce Brosnan can not sing!   Pretty face, not a pretty voice but you have to give the guy credit for trying.  He sang (or at least tried to) his heart out for all the world to hear!  Very brave Mr Bond.  I would consider that just as scary an assignment as some of those taken on by 007.
Finally, moms of girls, or maybe just moms in general,  bring your kleenex and be prepared for "Slipping through my fingers".   As many of my mom friends do, I find songs like this especially heart-wrenching right now as we approach a new chapter in Kayla's life and a step closer to her independence.  The scene alone is enough to make you cry but the song just adds a big kick while you're down.
Anyway, the movie is so fun and a blast to see with girlfriends!   It made me think about the things I so often take for granted and reminded me to enjoy my daughter, enjoy my friends and just enjoy life in general!

"Slipping through my fingers"

School bag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning,
waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile.
I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness,
And I have to sit down for a while
The feeling that I'm losing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl.

Slipping through my fingers all the time,
I try to capture every minute,
the feeling in it.
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
she keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sleep in our eyes, her and me at the breakfast table
Barely awake, I let precious time go by
Then when she's gone there's that odd melancholy feeling
And a sense of guilt I can't deny.
What happened to the wonderful adventures?
Places I had planned for us to go.
Well, some of that we did
but most we didn't.
And why I just don't know.

Slipping through my fingers all the time.
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really know what's in her mind,
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time.

Sometime I wish that I could freeze the picture.
And save it from the funny tricks of time.

Slipping through my fingers all the time.

School bag in hand she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile...

Cool. I added you to my friends list. I passed up a chance to see that movie with a bunch of MRCC women while in Colorado. It is hard for me to watch most chick flicks.
